Hailed as the largest resort when it opened in 1888, the Hotel del Coronado saw many celebrities and presidents and everyday people walk through its halls and sleep in its rooms, including L. Frank Baum, author of the Oz series. He traveled to the resort between 1904 and 1910 many times, staying at the hotel as well as a nearby house dubbed The Baum House. Supposedly, Baum designed the crown chandeliers in the Crown Room, though it is hard to say if this is fact or fiction.
